The support that Hancock Prospecting and Mrs Rinehart AO have provided to Swimming WA and the sport of swimming spans over three decades and has made a significant contribution to the success of our elite WA swimmers at international level. Hancock Prospecting and Mrs Rinehart AO also support swimming across Australia including providing direct support to members of the Australian Swimming Team.
The perpetuity of Hancock Prospecting’s support to Swimming WA has provided an invaluable contribution to the swimming community in WA, right from our grassroots through to our Olympians. The funding from Hancock Prospecting contributes towards the running of our pool meets and open water swimming competitions as well as other services and provisions to our members and swimming community, all of which provide the opportunities for our athletes to strive for podium success.
As our longstanding patron, Mrs. Gina Rinehart AO supports our Annual Awards night through the Patron’s Award, which recognises an outstanding West Australian pool or open water swimmer for their performance both in and out of competition, at the benchmark international competitions. In 2020, Mrs. Rinehart financed the CLOGS underwater camera system at HBF Stadium to allow our high-performance swimmers to improve their underwater work, critical to improving times where one-hundredth of a second can be the difference between being on the podium or not.
As we plan towards a home Olympics in Brisbane in 2032 and home-grown podium success from WA, we look forward to continuing our longstanding partnership with Hancock Prospecting and Mrs. Rinehart AO, and we thank her for her ongoing support of our sport.
