Rockhampton based Caribeae Swimming Club, represented by eight young swimmers aged 11-16 years at the 2023 Swimming Queensland State Shortcourse championships over the last weekend. This state event attracted 149 clubs with in excess of 1000 swimmers.
Our Caribeae Swimming Clubs statistics were amazing with eight swimmers competing in 78 events over three days.
Those swimmers scored 22 Top 10 places which led to an impressive 15 Medals.
And on a big stage those eight swimmers made 81 per cent of their races their personal best times.
The club itself scored 818 points, finishing 30th overall and finishing the top of all the other clubs in Central Queensland.
Rose Brandon saw her become 12 years girls state champion 400m IM and a silver medalist 200m breaststroke,
Saidee Whitcombe was the 11 years girls state champion in the 50m backstroke while earning silver in the 100m backstroke.
In the 11-14 years boys competition Kallem Humphreys finished MCS silver medallist 100m breaststroke and was a five time bronze medalist, coming third in 50m breast, 50m fly, 100m fly, 100m IM and 200m Freestyle.
Levi Thomson competing in the 13 years boys was a triple bronze medalist with thirds in 1500m free, 400m IM and the 200m IM.
Zachary Thomsen, taking on the 12 years boys, scored two bronze medals, first in the 200m Fly and then 400m IM.
Caribeae swimmers also set new best by Central Queenslander records in seven events.
Making a clean sweep of the 16 years boys records, Spencer Brown set new records in 25m, 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events, while 11 years old backstroke specialist Saidee Whitcombe established new records in 25m and 50m events. Versatile 13 years old swimmer, Levi Thomsen set a new BBCQ record in the 400m IM event.
