Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy have booked their spot in the quarterfinals at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Artacho del Solar and Clancy played their final preliminary match against Cyprus’ Constantinou/Constantopoulou, notching up a great 2-0 victory (21-14, 21-13).
Clancy said it feels great to be taking the steps towards where they want to be, the gold medal match.
“I’m feeling good about the quarters, we’re going to enjoy this moment that’s for sure,” Clancy said.
“We’re going to take some time to recover tonight and be ready to go again tomorrow,” she said.
Artacho del Solar admitted while it is exciting to have progressed, it’s still about taking it one game at a time.
“We just try to focus on the processes, and not try and look too far ahead because if you do you can get caught out a bit,” Artacho del Solar said.
“For us it’s all about staying present, staying in the moment and enjoying each game as it comes,” she said.
The quarterfinals of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be played on Friday 5 August, with both Aussie teams in action.
