The US led the final medal table of swimming at the 2024 Paris Olympics. They tallied a total of 8 golds and 28 total medals to finish ahead of Australia with 7 gold and 18 total medals.

The lack of federal funding means Australia’s richest person, Gina Rinehart is personally funding more than 90 Aussie athletes in Paris, including swimming stars Kyle Chalmers, Kaylee McKeown and Ariarne Titmus.

Gina Rinehart has been a constant presence on the pool deck and next to the rowing course, and plenty of athletes have name-dropped her after their success these Games.

Kaylee McKeown was robbed off an Olympic silver medal when vision showed a US rival should have been disqualified in the medley. But the Australian star’s response showed her true class.

Queensland is punching above its weight in the Paris Olympics, its eight gold medals outstripping those of many entire countries.

Meg Harris has pulled off the best swim of her career to nab silver by 0.26 of a second in the women’s 50-metre freestyle final.
