Sky News host Peta Credlin applauds billionaire Gina Rinehart for becoming a “godmother” of Australian sports by pouring an estimated $10 million every year into swimming, rowing, volleyball and artistic swimming.

“She helps to support the athletes directly, her millions go to them as individuals so they can pay their rent and put food on the table and do all the training needed to make it on the world stage,” Ms Credlin said.

Olympic great Cate Campbell told The Australian, ‘Rinehart has saved Australian swimming’ due to her direct payments to otherwise cash-strapped young athletes.
