‘It’s more than just a brand, it represents a cherished part of rural Australia’s way of life.’

Billionaire and mining magnate Gina Rinehart has furthered her journey into the Australian fashion industry by purchasing the shoe brand, Rossi Boots.

Rinehart’s company S. Kidman and Co. said its purchase of the boot manufacturer, which has been operating since 1910, was a part of its “commitment to preserving iconic national brands”.

“(This) ensures that Rossi’s manufacturing excellence remains in Australian hands and will see it expand into new markets,” the company said.

Founded by Arthur Rossiter, Rossi Boots sells high-quality leather boots for men and women that are designed for both work and casual wear.

The company supplied hundreds of boots to Australian soldiers in World War I and World War II, with Rinehart saying the purchase of the business was a “recognition of our national history”.

“Rossi Boots is more than just a brand, it represents a cherished part of rural Australia’s way of life,” she said.

“We are committed to nurturing its legacy by maintaining operations in Australia and are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for Rossi Boots under the umbrella of S. Kidman and Co.”

The acquisition of Rossi Boots follows S. Kidman and Co.’s recent purchase of Driza-Bone.

Driza-Bone, best known for their oilskin jackets, has been a staple in Australian wardrobes for 125 years, with prime ministers donning the famous coats for decades.

Rinehart said she’d love to see the brand expand overseas.

“We want to keep and preserve its magnificent past but we also want to rejuvenate it,” she said earlier.
