Dear Rod,
We refer to your article of 9 December 2015 entitled “Gina excited about first iron ore shipment from Roy Hill”, published in PerthNow. That article contained an important error that needs correction.
Your statement that “Mrs Rinehart recently revealed that she acted against the advice and recommendations of experts who said pursuing Roy Hill was the wrong decision” is incorrect. Mrs Rinehart stated in her recent speech that “Those involved in our company back in 1992….advised in writing – not to take up Roy Hill”. These were not external “experts”, nor was this “recent” advice as implied in your article.
I attach for your information a transcript of Mrs Rinehart’s speech at the Sydney Mining Club on 3 December 2015. The relevant part is highlighted, showing the misquote.
We would appreciate an immediate correction to the article, together with all online versions.
