AIM WA Pinnacle Awards – Executive Chairman Gina Rinehart awarded the WA Business Leader of the Year award

The AIM WA Pinnacle Awards recognise and reward excellence and innovation across the WA businesses, and are an esteemed and prestigious awards program in West Australia.

Hancock and Mrs Rinehart had an incredible evening across two separate awards nights, with Mrs Rinehart named Business Leader of the Year at the AIM WA Pinnacle Awards, while Atlas Iron won two separate awards and Roy Hill a further award at the Australian Mining Prospect awards.

Huge congratulations to Mrs Rinehart, Roy Hill and Atlas on their incredible achievements.

On November 17th, business leaders, finalists and other guests gathered at Crown Perth to celebrate the AIM WA Pinnacle Awards.

The AIM WA Pinnacle Awards are Western Australia’s premier business leadership excellence awards, recognising and rewarding outstanding organisations across the corporate, government, community and not-for-profit sectors in Australia that have a significant footprint in Western Australia. Now in its ninth year, the awards have become staple in the Perth business calendar.

Executive Chairman of the Hancock Prospecting Group, Mrs. Gina Rinehart, AO, was the recipient of the WA Business Leader of the Year award.

This award is presented to a leader who is recognised by their peers as any outstanding leader in the business community, and able to demonstrate excellence in the following:

  • Significant organisational growth, greater reach, improved financial performance or impact,
  • Positive individual impact and influence on the wider community,
  • A high degree of achievement of a major turnaround in the performance of their organisation,
  • Introduction of an innovation that has significantly changed their industry, and/or
Successful launch of new products or new markets domestically or offshore.

As the recipient of this award, Mrs. Rinehart donated $20,000 to the RFDS and the RSLWA.

Unfortunately due to prior commitments, Mrs. Rinehart was unable to attend the event, however a number of women who are proudly part of the Hancock Group were in attendance and were delighted to accept the award on her behalf.

Mrs Rinehart’s Speech

Good evening, my apologies for not being with you tonight, much as I’d like to be there, but isn’t it terrific that some of our terrific ladies contributing to our essential mining and agricultural industries are on stage tonight, to collect this much appreciated business leader award on my behalf.

There are many ideas on what a business leader should do, firstly of course, his or her contribution to their company. With the huge help of all my dedicated staff, I believe we’ve ticked that box, given we are the most successful private company in Australia’s history. And one of the most successful private mining companies in the world.

Not bad, given where our company was 30 years ago, with cheques being written and left in a drawer, given there wasn’t the money to cover! But after much effort, starting four major mines, and a mega mine, plus the contribution of Atlas and some other investments, we don’t need that cheque drawer anymore!

And I am pleased that the $20,000 AIM WA training will be split between RSLWA and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Thank you.
