Less than an hour since the annual fundraising spectacular began, Telethon has hit over $1 million in donations.
Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting were the first of the night to donate $1 million to help sick kids in WA.
It was a special donation with workers using money from their bonuses to go towards the great cause.
One worker knew first-hand what good the donations can do as he said his wife worked in speech services for children with disabilities.
$100,000 was also raised by sales of Fat Cat toys.
As of 8pm, the money raised is sitting at over $1,600,000.
Telethon now supports almost 58,000 children and nearly 25,000 families, with the $62.1 million raised last year — and with high hopes of another record in 2022 — set to bring the total amount raised since its inception to a staggering $500 million.
