Swimming WA held their Annual Awards on the evening of October 7th at Beaumonde on the Point, Perth. The awards are an evening to celebrate the sports successes and achievements of all athletes, volunteers, coaches, and officials over this past year.
During the evening, Swimming WA was very pleased to announce their Patron, Mrs Gina Rinehart AO was awarded Life Membership for over 30 years of support and outstanding contribution towards swimming in West Australia.
Swimming WA President Darren Michael said: “I especially would like to recognise and thank Mrs Gina Rinehart AO, who is the single biggest financial contributor to the sport of swimming across the country and most deserving to be inducted as an honorary Life Member to our sport here in WA. Mrs Rinehart does much more than this, as Patron of both West Australian swimming, and the Australian swimmers, she gives her time, enthusiasm, dedication and leadership . She is a role model for our swimmers, striving to work hard and achieve excellence. We are indeed very honoured to have Mrs Rinehart as our Patron.”
Unfortunately due to commitments outside of west Australia Mrs. Rinehart was unable to attend, however had family members who were proud to accept this in in her behalf.
