Mrs Rinehart Crowned 2023 Western Australian of the Year

Hancock Prospecting’s Executive Chairman, Mrs Gina Rinehart AO, was announced as the 2023 Western Australian of the Year at a spectacular gala dinner celebrating the best and brightest of WA.

Recognised for her outstanding contribution to the state and national economy, Mrs Rinehart was also awarded the 2023 Business Award.

On hand to accept the awards, Mrs Rinehart called on state and federal governments to help keep Australian businesses competitive in an ever-intensifying global market.

“We must ensure that our country is not left behind by short-sighted decisions and encourage policies that welcome investment in our wonderful state,” said Mrs Rinehart.

A passionate philanthropist, Mrs Rinehart supports various medical, educational, sporting, health and community organisations, including the life-changing Hanrine Futures Scholarships, which ensures disadvantaged and vulnerable Indigenous children in the Pilbara receive an education and a guaranteed job.

Mrs Rinehart has championed initiatives aimed at raising the positive profile and contribution of the Australian Resource Industry. As founder and patron of National Mining and Related Industries Day (NMD) and National Agriculture Day, she has led industry in coming together to celebrate and be proud of mining.

The 2023 Western Australian of the Year Awards marked 50 years of celebrating the West Australians making extraordinary contributions in key areas such as arts and culture; the Aboriginal community; positive social, scientific and economic impact; sport and the WA community as a whole.

Congratulations to Mrs Rinehart on a well-deserved award, and to all the other winners from the evening.
